Pencil grippers

Handwriting is still a big problem in our house.   Today, DD complained that handwriting with a pencil is painful, and that she doesn't like writing small letters.

Well, writing with a pencil can be painful, especially if your grip isn't correct, or if you are struggling to maintain a correct grip.  Some ways we have addressed this in the past were to use pencil grippers (generic foam ones) and to use big broad tipped markers.  I can't really say that they've helped.

Today, I've discovered that there are a wide variety of pencil grippers out there, so we're going to have to try some different types.  The blog The Anonymous OT has a great guide to pencil grips, with lots of pictures.  I was surprised to learn that you can't just go to the office supply store and buy therapeutic pencil grips, though.  They can be sort of expensive.  Amazon charges $5 for one grip (but its a lot less per grip if you buy in bulk).
