DD is rough on her things, especially when her ADHD is in high gear. When she plays, she plays with a lot of energy, which is great, but she also doesn't always pay attention to when she's being too rough. We've had to rescue a lot of toys and clothes.
Some strategies we've used to try to limit the damage...
1) She never is allowed to wear party/church clothes for regular play. She always must change out of her good clothes into play clothes as soon as she gets home from church or another formal occasion.
2) We have taught her "If something makes a fun noise, it usually means it will soon be broken."
3) No fighting games. (I realize this is probably easier with a girl than a boy.) Not even pretend fighting. Someone always manages to get hurt for real.
4) Everything gets put away in a safe place, not just tossed into any random box. This isn't just a matter of mom being neurotic about cleanliness, but a matter of prized possessions getting torn up (or vomited or urinated upon by our geriatric cat).
5) If things start getting carried away, a nonpunitive time out is a great way to calm down and prevent someone or something from being broken.
